Coastal Lagoon Tour
(sorry, this tour is temporarily unavailable)

The destination
of this tour is a coastal area close to Mazatlan where
during the winter months great numbers of migrating birds join the resident
bird populations in the lagoons, ponds, inlets and beaches .
A short drive through rural farm country takes us to the edge of
a slow
moving river where we will launch the kayaks to begin our tour. As we
glide
down the water way, several mangrove-lined mudflats and sandbars offer
excellent chances of viewing many wading and shore birds such as the
Roseate
Spoonbill, White-faced Ibis, Wood Stork,
Boat-billed Heron, Black and
Yellow-crowned Night Herons, Black-bellied Whistling Duck, Royal and
Caspian
Terns, and the Brown Pelican among others.
We may also see local fisherman throwing a traditional net hoping to
bring in shrimp and small fish for
the
market or a family dinner.
We will navigate through a mangrove-lined canal where the Green,
Ringed
and Belted Kingfishers, the Osprey, Red-tailed Hawk,
Mangrove warbler and
the Mangrove swallow are just a few of the species we
may encounter. The
pace of the tour is relaxed and you will find that the kayak allows
unequaled access to the shore and wading birds. Professional
instruction is
included and the underlying words are safe and comfortable.

instruction, safety & kayaking gear, dry bags, lunchbox and beverages,
